Taking a moment to share some images from the forum. Taking pride in what you do, whatever you do, is key to being happy. Even if you are working a job you cannot stand you can still find some sort of fullfilment in doing a good job and taking pride in what you do.

The work you leave behind follows you everyday. Your work shold represent who you are as a person.

Here are some excellent examples. If you leave a job and it doesnt look like this, then you arent finished.

It is so easy to do if they still provide you with house boxes.  We don't get them in our region any more.  ??? :wtf:

are you not in the same region as us in virginia? house boxes (albeit very ugly bed pan looking boxes) are one of the few things we do actually get.

No house box is an auto QC failure here.

Funny.  We used to use house boxes everywhere no matter what.  After Comcast took over and we merged systems, the only time I use them now is if there is more than one line terminating on the outside, or if it is a business.  If it is a single family home with just a GB outside, I don't use one.  I do, however, make sure there are either grommets or boots/grease used for weather-proofing.

We merged two nearby Comcast systems previously owned by two different companies and sort of mixed and matched their install specs.  It seems that Adelphia was more lackluster than SusCom regarding installation specs.  The only incentive for Adelphia techs to install a house box was so they could do discos and video trapping inside the huge contracptions that they used to mount.  http://www.arrisistore.com/product.php?pid=157683

One of my biggest pet peeves is seeing a multiport splitter mounted on the siding of a house.  There is no way to make a 4way splitter full of coax look good without containing it inside a housing.  Same goes with dish installs where they mount their 4 port GBs to brand new vinyl siding.  I would never allow that on any property I owned.

I have the wonderful duty of split region service, in other words I run SA and Pioneer equipment in my Time Warner area and my TWA (Time Warner former Adelphia area) I use Motorola equipment. In the TWC area house box is mandatory whether it is an omni box (GB only) or a regular house box. In the TWA area you are only supposed to use house boxes on new installs, not UP DW or TC. They say it is to costly to put a house box on all homes because Adelphia went bankrupt and during that time they cut costs by not buying house boxes and using crimp fittings and all RG 59 in house. TWA is 95% RG6 drops to power and 80% rg59 in house, which is shitty because they just mandated that all eq must be on rg6. TWC on the other hand is 50% RG6 to Power and about 30% not to power, while 20% is RG59 to or not to power. QC spec is all drops RG6 to power and must have GB outside, with feed considered part of the drop.

Oh the days of "IF it plays it stays" are long gone!

Sounds like you work in my area! I cover both TWC and TWA areas... (one of the TWC areas used to be from another division, and WOW, it almost sucks as bad as the TWA area).

I agree it doesn't look good, but you better never work around this area or you'll have a lot of work ahead of you cleaning up. About 25% of the houses have splitters on the outside...with no boxes of any type of course!!    :o

I used to put boxes on every house, it didn't matter if it was a ground block or 8-way.  I figured it was the best way to keep the weather out of the connections.  Unfortunately, we don't get any here anymore. :goatse:
