Verizons Answer-Cable Headache
« on: November 01, 2011, 01:14:20 PM »
LINK!

We posted a Front Page Article today in regards to Verizons LTE mentioned in another thread. Verizons LTE is based on providing IP based traffic wirelessly obviously and geared towards mobile devices. Its capacity and reach however is such that they will also be dipping their toes into the Video Delivery world via Wireless receivers.

How does this affect us? Ingress in the 700MHz spectrum.
Ouch.

Hey maybe they'll finally give me a Sniffer.  I hate CLI contact calls when they state "leakage no ingress" since I can't see it on my DSAM :(

Verizon is coming into Market by me in Alaska also..... surprised by this move as we have been spanking the crap outa AT&T since they bought Dobson/Cellular One.  Verizon made the big announcement the day after we turned up our HSPA 4G and two days after the announcement I signed a shipper reciept taking inventoy of 20 cabinets prewired for LTE cell service....lol

What makes less sense is that We(my company) own the fiber transport they are going to have to lease to get the data and calls out of Alaska... unless they are partnering with the LEC(they have transport as well not as robust and not really redundant but it is transport) which I've seen no MCA or RCA filings as such so things are heating up.

Best news the customers could ever get.... more attention to service retention and competing price wars coming.

I agree. More competition is always a good thing. When companies compete there are no lay offs or a lull in initiatives. It usually results in overtime to meet numbers, more resources put out, more marketing and sales which increase installs.. and Trouble calls.
Not to mention- New products.

Unless you compete really really bad. Then your out of business. :(

Awesome! Wonder if the meters are going to need another shielding upgrade to keep it from coming in over them when doing ingress tests... Is there a map where verizon is doing this by chance? Pretty sure not in my area, but having a big military presence you never know.

Also aren't cell signals rather low to start with might not be as big of an issue if its starting at like -30dB/mV then getting in on the cable. Least my verizon air card reports levels like that low when its working.

We have an issue in my footprint on 711MHz. FLOTV is killing a specific area. HDs tiling like crazy until we found where it was mostly getting in. Not sure of the signal strength but it was enough to disrupt.
