RESURRECTION !
OK.... Somebody throw this old dog a bone....
I'm having same issue as stated above and need help verifying exactly how to identify the problem so I can explain it to the power Co. when I (have the supervisor call them, he doesn't know it yet

) need the call made.
I've tracked the issue once before and have it narrowed down to just 1 leg (3 spans) before it went away (impulse noise issue). <36 SNR during day, >15 at night after midnight. Had another MT decide to do PM in that node so I let it ride with him. He told me he found squirrel chews and had all 3 spans replaced... taps included

Problem still exist so I'm gonna have to haul my fat ass out there at 5AM to to try to narrow it even further. Only 4 customers to check on this run. Of course this is all back easement aerial so getting shot is my most worry

One thing that is odd is there is a jacket on the Power Co. (PC) primary mid-span (not three phase... just primary and ground) which I kinda suspect there was a large tree right there rubbing it as I don't see a stump, but the owners made a compost pile with leaves in the area I suspect it to be... yet the PC doesn't usually leave jackets hanging on their wire like that after tree removal.
Anywhooo... any troubleshooting hints you guys can throw at me once I verify it's not coming from any of the customers wiring ? My worst fear is getting blown off the ladder while unhooking the drops to check them. I'm hoping for a ground to be running up the pole so I can use it to check for voltage on the strand before I touch as I'll be by myself.
Why am I so sketchy about this one ? I had a tap literally blow up in my face doing hurricane duty... power lost ground as I was opening the tap and it put all the voltage on our strand. I had to leave them shorts at the bottom of the pole when I left
